The Savvik Foundation is a Minnesota non-profit corporation with
charity 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. It was
founded in 2000 by board members of the North Central EMS Corporation, dba,
Savvik Buying Group.
The
Savvik Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors and receives
income from individuals, corporations, and governments. Its efforts are
primarily concentrated in research, benchmarking, education, the performance of
EMS systems and fostering collaboration among national and international
groups.
The
Savvik Foundation in 2008 copyrighted a “Community Paramedic” curriculum that
was developed in collaboration with universities in the US, Canada, and
Australia. The curriculum is provided free of charge to any accredited college
or university worldwide. The curriculum is currently in version 4. In Fall 2011
we released the “Community Paramedic Program Manual”, a guide for communities
and ambulance services to use in developing a Community Paramedic program. The
manual has been downloaded from the internet an average of five times per day,
every day, since October 17, 2011.
In
2014, we have commissioned a research study of our EMS Benchmarking Initiative.
In partnership with the Center for Leadership, Innovation, and Research in EMS
and the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada The Savvik Foundation has been collecting
benchmarking data from EMS providers across the country since 2002 and we
expect the analysis will provide opportunities for best practices for EMS
services.
